2. Remove the distributor cap, gasket, and rotor.
3. Remove the two (2) stator cover screws and stator cover. Discard the stator cover screws.
4. Remove the armature shaft center screw. Discard the center screw and remove the rotor drive.
5. Remove the upper and lower vanes and spacer from the armature shaft. Discard the vanes.
6. Remove the condenser screw from the side of the distributor housing and remove ignition coil terminal screw. Discard both the screws.
7. Remove and discard the ignition coil connector and the stator assembly.
8. Remove the two (2) ignition coil retaining plate screws, the retaining plate, and ignition coil. Discard the retaining plate screws and ignition coil.
INSTALLATION (Refer to Figure 3)
1. Install the revised Ignition Coil (F32Z-12029-AA), retaining plate and two (2) new screws. Torque screws to 4.7-5.1 N.m (41-46 lb-in).
2. Install the revised Stator Assembly (F32Z-12A112-BA).
3. Install the ignition coil connector by applying a downward force to the connector.
4. Install the new screw that attaches the terminal of the ignition coil connector to the distributor housing to the stator assembly. Torque screw to 0.6-1.0 N.m (5-10 lb-in).
5. Install the new screw that attaches the condenser of the ignition coil connector to the distributor housing. Torque screws to 1.6-2.9 N.m (14-26 lb-in).
CAUTION:
CARE MUST BE TAKEN IN ORDER TO ASSURE PROPER ORIENTATION OF THE VANES TO THE ARMATURE SHAFT TO AVOID DAMAGING THE VANES.
6. Install the spacer and revised vanes onto the armature shaft.
7. Install rotor drive.
8. Install armature shaft center screw. Torque new screw to 4.7-5.1 N.m (41-46 lb-in).
NOTE:
VERIFY ROTATION OF ARMATURE SHAFT TO ASSURE THAT THERE IS NO INTERFERENCE.
9. Install the stator cover and new screws. Torque screws to 4.7-5.1 N.m (41-46 lb-in).
10. Install the distributor gasket, rotor, and cap. Torque distributor cap screw to 1.0-1.9 N.m (9-17 lb-in).
11. Install the engine air cleaner. Refer to the Service Manual, Section 03-12B.
