Accelerator Cable

REMOVAL

1. Remove the air cleaner assembly.

2. Using a suitable tool, push the accelerator cable nylon bushing out of the accelerator pedal and shaft arm.

3. Remove the body insulation retainer from the cable housing. The retainer is located inside the vehicle where the housing passes through the dash panel into the passenger compartment.

4. Disconnect the accelerator cable at the throttle lever by removing the core wire end from the throttle body cam slot.

5. Remove the cable housing to the engine mounting bracket retaining screw.

6. Remove the cable housing to the dash panel retaining screws and housing.

INSTALLATION

1. Insert the pedal end of the cable, with cover installed, through the dash panel. Install the retaining screws.

2. Install the cable housing in the engine mounting bracket and install the retaining screw.

3. Connect the cable to the throttle body throttle lever.

4. Install the body insulation retainer on the cable housing. Make sure that the retainer is pushed onto the housing at least 6.35 mm (1/4 inch).

5. Press the nylon bushing on the accelerator cable into accelerator pedal arm.

6. Check for binding or interference, cable movement must be restriction free.
