FORD:
1994-97 ASPIRE
ISSUE:
A "clicking, clunking, or rattling" noise may be caused by a shift lever that is not fully engaged in reverse gear, resulting in damaged gears. These noises are most noticeable when coasting rearward with the clutch disengaged.
ACTION:
Install a new input shaft, reverse idler gear and reverse gear. Refer to the appropriate year Aspire Service Manual, Section 07-03, for service details.
CAUTION:
MAKE SURE THE CUSTOMER KNOWS THAT WHEN SHIFTING INTO REVERSE GEAR, THE CLUTCH MUST BE FULLY DISENGAGED WITH THE VEHICLE AT A COMPLETE STOP AND THE SHIFT LEVER FULLY ENGAGED IN REVERSE GEAR TO AVOID DAMAGING THE MTX TRANSAXLE.
