Transmission Fluid Drain and Refill Procedure
1. Raise and support the vehicle.
2. Remove the transmission oil pan drain plug and allow the transmission fluid to drain into a suitable container.
3. Install the transmission oil pan drain plug using a new washer and tighten the transmission oil pan drain plug to 40-58 N.m (29-43 lb.ft.)
4. remove the speedometer cable sleeve (17B301) and speedometer gear (1727-1).
5. Refill the transaxle with Motorcraft MERCON XT-2-QDX.
6. Check the transmission fluid level. The speedometer cable sleeve is used as a dipstick to check the transmission fluid level. Remove the speedometer cable sleeve and check the transmission fluid level using the indicator mark on the speedometer cable sleeve.
