TRANSMISSION - ATX - DELAYED ENGAGEMENT
AFTER VEHICLE HAS BEEN SHUT DOWN FOR
EXTENDED PERIOD - VEHICLES BUILT THROUGH

1994-97 ASPIRE
ISSUE:
A delayed transmission engagement after the vehicle has been sitting for an extended period may occur on some vehicles. This may be due to low fluid flow within the torque converter.
ACTION:
Install the Check Ball and Seat Assembly Service Kit for 1994-97 vehicles and also replace the Torque Converter for 1994-96 vehicles. Refer to the following Diagnosis and Service Procedure for details.
DIAGNOSIS
1. Verify customer concern.
2. Check fluid level and condition. If fluid level is incorrect, adjust as necessary before proceeding. If fluid is burnt or discolored, diagnose and repair as per appropriate year Aspire Service Manual.
3. Check line pressure at idle and at stall. Refer to the Service Manual, Section 07-01.
4. If line pressures are out of specification, high or low, diagnose by referring to the Service Manual.
5. If line pressures are within specifications, proceed to Service Procedure.
The Check Ball and Seat Assembly Kit (F4BZ-7K037-AA) consists of the following parts:
