With Manual Transmission
NOTE: The engine and transaxle must be removed as an assembly.1. Relieve fuel system pressure, then disconnect battery cables and remove battery and battery tray.
2. Scribe alignment marks on hood and hood hinges to facilitate installation, then remove hood.
3. Drain cooling system, crankcase and transaxle fluid, then discharge air conditioning system.
4. Remove air cleaner and oil dipstick.
5. Disconnect electrical connectors and hoses, then remove cooling fan and radiator as an assembly.
6. Disconnect accelerator cable at the throttle body, and remove cable bracket from valve cover.
7. Disconnect speedometer cable and remove bracket.
8. Disconnect and mark all remaining hoses, lines and electrical connections that will interfere with engine/transaxle removal.
9. If equipped with power steering remove two bolts and separate pump from engine. Disconnect power steering lines from engine.
10. Raise and support vehicle.
11. Disconnect exhaust inlet pipe.
12. Remove A/C compressor.
13. Disconnect lower control arms from steering knuckles.
14. Separate halfshafts from transaxle and install suitable holding tool for differential side gear
16. Remove six transaxle case to cylinder block front bracket and rear case bracket bolts.
17. Disconnect clutch control cable, then the shift control rod from transaxle.
18. Disconnect stabilizer bar from transaxle, then support engine using suitable tool.
19. Remove rear transaxle crossmember to chassis attaching bolts.
20. Remove two front transaxle crossmember nuts.
21. Remove rear engine mount to crossmember attaching nut.
22. Remove crossmember to chassis attaching bolts, then lower and remove crossmember from vehicle.
23. Lower vehicle, attach suitable hoist to engine, then raise vehicle again to gain clearance for engine/transaxle removal.
24. Remove right engine mount through-bolt, then raise engine/transaxle assembly slightly. Guide assembly out through bottom of vehicle.
25. Reverse procedure to install.
