AFFECTED VEHICLES

1993 Thunderbird 3.8L Supercoupe cars equipped with automatic overdrive transmissions built from Job # 1 through September 29, 1992.

REASONS FOR THIS PROGRAM
The transmission throttle valve cable may become disconnected from the throttle body lever. Should the cable become disconnected during normal operation, the transmission bands and clutches will immediately begin to slip. Under this condition, the transmission bands and clutches will wear out within several miles, rendering the vehicle inoperative.

SERVICE ACTION
To correct this condition, a new throttle body assembly incorporating a revised lever must be installed.

RENTAL CARS
To prevent possible premature transmission wear out due to continued operation, dealers will provide a rental car (free of charge except for fuel) to the owner until a replacement throttle body is received and installed. Reasonable rental car fee should not exceed $30.00 per day.

REFUNDS
Only for owner-paid repairs made before date of Owner Letter.
