Brake Lamp: Description and Operation

Voltage is present at the Stop Lamp Switch at all times via circuit 83 (Y/R) and the STOP Fuse. When the Stop Lamp Switch is closed and Brake Pedal depressed, battery voltage is applied to all stop lamps via circuit 321 (W/GN). The Stop Lamp Switch also supplies a "brakes applied" signal to the Powertrain Control Module (PCM), the Shift Lock Actuator (with automatic transaxle), ABS Control Module and the Speed Control Module (with Speed Control).
