Clearing Trouble Codes

Clearing Memory Codes Using Analog Volt Ohm Meter (VOM):
1. Connect "GN/R" and "BK" terminals at Antilock Brake System (ABS) test connector or pins "TBS" and "GND" at Data Link Connector (DLC) with jumper wire (see illustrations in Quick Test Step QT5). Displaying and Reading Trouble Codes
2. Key ON.
3. Output service codes using the analog VOM.
4. After first code is repeated, depress the brake pedal 10 times at intervals of less than one (1) second.
5. Key OFF.
6. Disconnect the jumper wire at the ABS test connector or DLC.

Using Super Star II:
1. Connect Super Star II tester to the Antilock Brake System (ABS) test connector or to the Data Link Connector (DLC) with Super MECS Adapter 007-00052.
2. Key ON.
3. Output service codes using Super Star II Tester.
4. After first code is repeated, depress the brake pedal 10 times at intervals of less than (1) second.
5. Key OFF.
6. Disconnect Super Star II tester from the ABS test connector or DLC.

NOTE:
1. The warning lamp should illuminate while performing memory cancel.
2. When memory cancel operation is completed, the warning lamp should illuminate for 2-3 seconds, then go OFF.
3. After memory cancel, the ABS control module performs self-diagnosis.
4. Memory is not canceled by disconnecting the battery.
5. Memory codes cannot be canceled if the following occur:
a. Intervals for depressing the brake pedal exceed one (1) second.
b. Stoplamp bulb or Brake On/Off (BOO) switch has malfunctioned.
6. If using analog VOM, be sure to remove jumper wire from the ABS test connector or DLC after all checks and repairs are made.
