Clutch Switch: Description and Operation
The Powertrain Control Module (PCM) sends out a 5 volt reference to the Clutch Pedal Position (CPP) switch. When the switch is OPEN (clutch DEPRESSED), the PCM senses voltage. When the switch is CLOSED (clutch RELEASED), the PCM senses no voltage. The PCM uses this input to determine engine load and to adjust idle speed accordingly.
