RemovalWARNING: THE BACKUP POWER SUPPLY ENERGY MUST BE DEPLETED BEFORE ANY AIR BAG COMPONENT SERVICE IS PERFORMED. TO DEPLETE THE BACKUP POWER SUPPLY ENERGY, DISCONNECT THE NEGATIVE BATTERY CABLE AND WAIT ONE MINUTE.
1. Disconnect the negative battery cable and wait one minute for the backup power supply energy to be depleted.
2. Remove the front bumper cover.
3. Remove the nine screws from the RH inner fender splash shield.
4. Remove the RH inner fender splash shield.
NOTE: The RH crash sensor electrical connector is a Double Lock Type connector.
5. Remove the RH crash sensor electrical harness from the fender apron attaching clip and disconnect the RH crash sensor electrical connector.
6. Remove the two RH crash sensor bolts.
7. Remove the RH crash sensor from the vehicle.
Installation
1. Position the RH crash sensor with the arrow pointing toward the front of the vehicle and install the two RH crash sensor bolts. Tighten the RH crash sensor bolts to 9-12 Nm (79-112 lb-in).
2. Connect the RH crash sensor electrical connector.
3. Install the RH crash sensor electrical harness into the fender apron attaching clip.
4. Position the RH inner fender splash shield and install the nine RH inner fender splash shield screws. Tighten the RH inner fender splash shield screws to 8-10 Nm (71-88 lb-in).
5. Install the front bumper cover.
6. Connect the negative battery cable.
7. Verify that the air bag lamp is operative.
