Safety Recall 93S71 - Certain 1993 Model Year Mustang Cars Equipped With 5.0L Engines For Fuel Rail Replacement
AFFECTED VEHICLES
All 1993 model year 5.0L engine equipped Mustang cars built from April 20, 1993 through May 15, 1993.
REASONS FOR RECALL
The fuel rail on some of these cars may have been produced with tubes having thinning of the wall thicknesses. Such an improperly formed fuel rail could fracture allowing fuel to leak, which in the presence of an ignition source could result in a fire.
To correct this condition, dealers are to replace the fuel rail assembly on each of the affected cars.

CORRECT ALL VEHICLES IN STOCK BEFORE DELIVERY. FEDERAL LAW REQUIRES DEALERS TO COMPLETE ANY OUTSTANDING SAFETY RECALL SERVICE BEFORE A NEW VEHICLE IS DELIVERED TO THE BUYER OR LESSEE. VIOLATION OF THIS REQUIREMENT BY A DEALER COULD RESULT IN A CIVIL PENALTY OF UP TO $1,000 PER VEHICLE.

TECHNICAL INSTRUCTIONS
Replace the fuel rail assembly and intake manifold gasket. Refer to the 1993 Mustang Service Manual, Section 03-04B for the service procedures.

This notice is sent to you in accordance with the requirements of the National Traffic and Motor Vehicle Safety Act.
Ford Motor Company has determined that a defect which relates to motor vehicle safety exists in certain 1993 Model Year Mustang cars equipped with 5.0L engines.
SAFETY DEFECT
The fuel rail on some of these cars may have been produced with tubes having undersized wall thicknesses. Under certain circumstances, such a fuel rail could fracture and allow fuel to leak. In the presence of an ignition source, a fuel leak could result in a fire.
REPAIRS
At no charge to you, your dealer will replace the fuel rail assembly on your car. Dealers currently have instructions and parts ordering information.
HOW LONG WILL IT TAKE?
The time needed for this service is about two hours. However, due to service scheduling times, your dealer may need your vehicle for one full working day.
CALL YOUR DEALER
Call your dealer without delay. Ask for a service date and whether parts are in stock.
If your dealer does not have the parts in stock, they can be ordered before scheduling your service date. Parts would be expected to arrive within a week.
When you bring your car in, give the dealer this letter.
If you misplace this letter, your dealer will still do the work, free of charge.

Please fill out the enclosed prepaid postcard and mail it to us if you have changed your address or sold the car.
