Throttle Body: Service and Repair

REMOVAL

Throttle Body Removal/Installation:





1. Remove throttle linkage shield.
2. Remove cruise control and throttle and kickdown cable.
3. Disconnect throttle position sensor, EGR valve and idle air control valve electrical connectors.
4. Remove air intake, crankcase vent and evaporative canister purge hoses.
5. Remove four throttle body retaining bolts.

Throttle Body Removal/Installation:





6. Carefully separate throttle body from upper intake manifold.
7. Remove and discard gasket between throttle body and upper intake manifold.

INSTALLATION

1. Ensure that both throttle body and upper intake manifold gasket surfaces are clean.
NOTE: If scraping is necessary, be careful not to damage gasket surfaces or allow material to drop into manifold.
2. Install throttle body and gasket to upper intake manifold and secure with four retaining bolt.
- Tighten to 15-22 lb ft (20-30 Nm).
3. Connect air intake, crankcase vent, and evaporative canister purge hoses.
4. Connect throttle position sensor, EGR valve and idle air control valve electrical connectors.
5. Connect throttle cable, cruise control and kickdown cables.
6. Install throttle linkage shield.
