Timing Cover: Service and Repair
REMOVAL1. Remove four water pump pulley bolts.
2. Remove automatic belt tensioner and accessory drive belt.
3. Drain cooling system and remove upper radiator hose.
4. Remove crankshaft pulley bolt and pulley.
5. Remove thermostat housing and gasket.
6. Remove the timing belt outer cover retaining bolt. Release the eight cover interlocking tabs. Remove cover.
INSTALLATION
1. Position cover and secure by snapping the eight interlocking tabs into place. Install the timing belt outer cover retaining bolt.
2. Install automatic belt tensioner.
3. Install thermostat housing and gasket.
4. Install thermostat housing upper radiator hose to the radiator. Fill the cooling system.
5. Install crankshaft pulley and retaining bolt. Tighten bolt to 155-205 N-m (114-151 lb-ft).
6. Position water pump pulley and install four retaining bolts.
7. Install ribbed belt.
8. Start engine and check for leaks.
