Transmission Position Sensor/Switch: Description and Operation
Park/Neutral Position (PNP) Switch
The purpose of the Park/Neutral Position (PNP) switch is to prevent engine starting while in a forward or reverse gear. The PNP switch is located on the transaxle case. The PNP switch closes when the gear selector is in the P or N position, which allows the started motor to operate when the ignition switch is in the START position.
