Windows: Description and Operation

With the Ignition Switch in the ACCY or RUN position, voltage is applied to the Power Window Main Switch through the POWER WIND fuse of the Interior Fuse Panel. When the Window Lock Switch is closed, voltage is applied to Power Window Switches.

To raise the window(s), the UP switch closes so that current will power the motor to raise the window. The DOWN switch is grounded to complete the circuit.

To lower the window(s), the DOWN switch closes so that current will power the motor to lower the window. The UP switch is grounded to complete the circuit. Since the motor is a permanent magnet design, it operates in the reversed direction to lower the window when polarity is reversed.

One Touch Down Feature

This feature allows the driver's side window to fully open by firmly pressing the switch and then releasing it. The switch will return to the normal position when the window is fully opened.
