Heated Glass Element: Description and Operation
With the Ignition Switch in the RUN or START position, current is applied to the coil of the Rear Window Defroster Relay and the Indicator lamp of the Rear Window Defroster Switch from the METER fuse. Pressing the Rear Window Defroster Switch to the ON position energizes the Rear Window Defroster Relay and activates the (approximately) timing cycle. The Rear Widow Defrost Relay contacts close and current flows from the DEFOG c.b. (30A) through the relay to the Rear Window Defroster.
Pressing the Rear Window Defroster Switch again de-energizes the coil of the Defrost Relay and removed voltage from the Rear Widow Defroster.
If the Rear Window Defroster Switch is not pressed again to OFF, current will continue to be applied through the relay to the defroster until the timer cycle is complete. When the cycle is complete, the coil de-energizes and current is removed from the defroster.
