Shift Interlock: Description and Operation

With the Ignition Switch in the ON position, current flows through the METER fuse to the BK/Y wire of the Shift-lock Control Module. When the brake pedal is depressed, curent flows to ground through the BK wire of the Shift-lock Control Module and energizes the relays. The Shift-lock Actuator is activated and the lock lever moves to the release position. This allows movement of the guide pin and makes shifting possible.

FEATURES

1) The selector lever cannot be moved from PARK unless the brake pedal is depressed and the Ignition Switch is in the ON position.

2) A locked selector lever can be released by operation of the Emergency Override button.

3) The ignition key cannot be turned to the LOCK position with the selector lever in positions other than PARK.

4) The selector lever cannot be moved from the PARK position with the ignition key removed.
