Electronic Control Assembly (ECA):

PURPOSE
The ECA is the brain of the Electronic Engine Control (EEC) system with the capability of failure detection and self-diagnosis. The ECA is specifically calibrated for each vehicle application, providing the best possible combination of low emissions, fuel economy, and driveability. On 2.2L non-turbo applications, the ECA also contains the microprocessor that controls the 4-speed Electronic Automatic Transaxle (4EAT).

LOCATION
Forward of center console behind console kick panels.

OPERATION
Based on information received and programmed into its memory, the Electronic Control Assembly (ECA) generates output signals to control various relays, solenoids, and other actuators.
