EGR Control Solenoid: Description and Operation
Exhaust Gas Recirculation Control/Vent Solenoid:
PURPOSE
Control EGR flow to the engine.
LOCATION
Engine compartment, near center of cowl panel.
OPERATION
The EGR control solenoid allows and regulates vacuum to the EGR valve by a duty cycle signal received from the ECA. The vent solenoid, also ECA controlled, maintains required EGR valve position by venting some or all of the vacuum applied to the EGR valve. Together, the solenoids control EGR flow to the engine more accurately throughout all modes of engine operation.
CONSTRUCTION
These are two separate solenoid valves integrated into one assembly.
