Ignition Control Module: Service and Repair

REMOVAL

1. Disconnect the electrical connectors from the Distributorless Ignition System (DIS) module.

NOTE: To disconnect the connectors, push on the connector tab where it says PUSH, then pull the connector from the module.

2. Remove three retaining screws, then the ignition module from the lower intake manifold.

INSTALLATION

1. Clean the mating surfaces, then apply a 1/32" coating of dielectric silicone (Ford D7AZ-19A331-A, or equivalent) to the back of the module.
2. Place the DIS module on the intake manifold and install the retaining screws, torquing them to 22-31 in lb (2.2-3.5 Nm).
3. Connect the electrical connectors to the DIS module.
