REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION





ABS Control Module

Removal

The ABS control module is located under the driver seat.


1. Remove the driver seat. Refer to Section 01-10.





2. Detach the ABS test connector by squeezing its lock tabs.





3. Remove the three module mounting bolts. Be sure to note the attaching location of the ground wire.

4. Disconnect the two electrical connectors.


5. Remove the ABS control module.

Installation

1. Position the ABS control module and connect the electrical connectors.

2. Position the ground wire and install the module mounting bolts.

3. Insert the ABS test connector into its mounting slot.

4. Install the driver seat. Refer to Section 01-10.





Hydraulic Actuation Assembly

Removal





1. Remove the air cleaner assembly. Refer to Section 03-12A or 03-12B.

2. Disconnect the three electrical connectors at the ignition coil as shown in the following illustration.

3. Remove the two attaching nuts at the ignition coil and module bracket.





4. Remove the ignition coil and module bracket.

5. Remove the four attaching nuts at the fuel filter bracket.





6. Position the fuel filter and bracket aside.

7. Disconnect the two ABS electrical connectors leading to the hydraulic actuation assembly.


NOTE: Note the routing of the brake lines to ensure proper installation.

8. Disconnect the brake lines from the hydraulic actuation assembly. Remove those brake lines necessary for actuation assembly removal.





9. Remove the three mounting nuts and washers.





10. Remove the hydraulic actuation assembly.

Installation

1. Position the hydraulic actuation assembly and install the mounting nuts and washers. Tighten the nuts to 19-25 N-m (14-19 lb.ft.).

2. Install the brake lines and tighten them to 13-22 N-m (10-16 lb.ft.).

3. Connect the two ABS electrical connectors.

4. Position the fuel filter bracket and install the four attaching nuts.

5. Position the ignition coil and module bracket, then install the two attaching nuts.

6. Connect the three electrical connectors shown.


7. Install the air cleaner assembly. Refer to Section 03-12A or 03-12B.


ABS Relay

Removal

The ABS relay is located in the left rear corner of the engine compartment.

1. Remove the ABS relay attaching nut.





2. Disconnect the electrical connector and remove the ABS relay.


Installation

1. Connect the ABS relay to its electrical connector.

2. Position the ABS relay and install the attaching nut.





Front Wheel Sensor Rotor

Removal

1. Remove the tire and wheel assembly.

2. Remove the halfshaft. If necessary, refer to Section 05-04.

3. Using a soft faced drift, tap the sensor rotor from the outboard CV joint.


Installation

1. Position the sensor rotor on the CV joint with the chamfered edge facing the halfshaft.

2. Using a soft faced drift, tap the sensor rotor onto the outboard CV joint.

3. Install the halfshaft. If necessary, refer to Section 05-04.

4. Install the wheel and tire assembly.





Rear Wheel Sensor Rotor

Removal

1. Remove the tire and wheel assembly.

2. Remove the caliper and anchor bracket. Refer to Section 06-04.

3. Remove the rotor. If necessary, refer to Section 06-04.

4. Using a two-jaw puller and center plate, remove the sensor rotor from the rotor.


Installation

1. Position the rotor in press with the wheel studs facing down.

2. Using Sensing Ring Installer T88C-20202-AH or equivalent, press the sensor onto the rotor.

3. Install the rotor. If necessary, refer to Section 06-04.

4. Install the caliper and anchor bracket. If necessary, refer to Section 06-04.

5. Install the tire and wheel assembly.





Front Speed Sensor

Removal

1. Remove the tire and wheel assembly.

2. Remove two retaining bolts. Remove the speed sensor from the knuckle.

3. Remove the routing bracket from the strut assembly.

4. Remove the routing bracket from the inner fender well.

5. Disconnect the wiring harness.


6. Remove the speed sensor.


Installation

NOTE: The left and right speed sensors are not interchangeable. L or R is indicated on the bracket.

1. Route the sensor wiring harness in the vehicle. Connect the wiring harness.

2. Install the routing bracket onto the inner fender well.

3. Install the routing bracket onto the strut assembly. Torque bolt to 16-23 N-m (12-17 lb.ft.).

4. Install the speed sensor into the knuckle. Torque bolts to 16-23 N-m (12-17 lb.ft.).

5. Make sure that the wiring harness will clear all suspension components.

6. Install the tire and wheel assembly.





Rear Speed Sensor

Removal

1. Remove the tire and wheel assembly.

2. Remove the retaining bolt from the knuckle. Remove the speed sensor from the knuckle.

3. Remove the routing bracket from the strut assembly.

4. Remove the routing bracket from the inner fender well.

5. Remove interior panels as necessary to gain access to the wiring harness. If necessary, refer to Section 01-05.

6. Disconnect the wiring harness.


7. Remove the speed sensor.


Installation

NOTE: The left and right speed sensors are not interchangeable. L or R is indicated on the bracket.

1. Route the sensor wiring harness in the vehicle. Connect the wiring harness.

2. Install the routing bracket onto the inner fender well.

3. Install the routing bracket onto the strut assembly. Torque nut to 16-23 N-m (12-17 lb.ft.).

4. Install the speed sensor into the knuckle. Torque bolt to 16-23 N-m (12-17 lb.ft.).

5. Make sure that the wiring harness will clear all suspension components.

6. Install any interior panels that were removed. Refer to Section 01-05.
