DIAGNOSIS AND TESTING (Continued)

Visual Inspection

NOTE: Look for problems in other areas that may effect the ABS System (suspension and steering components, tire integrity and air pressure, wheel bearings, and brake components that are common to all brake systems).


If all OK, proceed with the Visual Inspection and proceed to the Symptom Chart. Visually inspect the following components of the Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS). Look for:


ELECTRICAL

^ Blown fuses (10 (turn), 15 (meter), 20 (stop), 60 (pump) and 80 (main) AMP)

^ Blown ABS Warning Bulb

^ Shorted Wires

^ Poor Connections

^ Corroded Connectors

^ Poor Insulation

^ Damaged Wheel Speed Sensors

^ Damaged ABS Relay(s)

* ^ Damaged Hydraulic Actuation
Assembly Solenoids or Motor

^ Damaged Stoplamp Switch

^ Damaged ABS Control Module


MECHANICAL

^ Insufficient ABS Hydraulic Fluid

^ Damaged Wheel Speed Sensor Rotors

* ^ Damaged Hydraulic Actuation Assembly
^ Damaged Hydraulic System Piping


NOTE: The Hydraulic Actuation Assembly is non serviceable nor can it be pressure checked. If any of its components fail, it must be replaced as a complete unit.
