ADJUSTMENTS

Brake Pedal Height
1. Check whether the distance from the center of the pedal pad to the floor is within specifications. It should be 222-227 mm (8.74-8.94 inch).

2. If necessary, adjust the pedal height by adjusting the stoplamp switch:
^ Loosen the stoplamp switch locknut.
^ Rotate the switch until the pedal height is 222-227 mm (8.74-8.94 in.).
^ Tighten the switch locknut.
^ Connect the stoplamp switch connector.

Brake Pedal Free Play Adjustment
1. If equipped with power brakes, depress the pedal a few times in order to eliminate the vacuum in the power booster.

2. Gently depress the pedal by hand and check the brake free play. (Until the valve plunger contacts the stopper plate and resistance is felt.) Free play should be 4-7 mm (0.16-0.28 inch).

3. If the free play needs adjusting:
^ Loosen the clevis locknut on the brake pedal push rod.
^ Turn clevis to obtain 4-7 mm (0.16-0.28 in.) free play.
^ Tighten the clevis locknut.
