SAFETY RECALL 91S23 SHOULDER BELT RETRACTOR BRACKET


TECHNICAL INSTRUCTIONS.

1. Position the front seats fully forward to gain access to the rear of the console.

2. Using a 1 inch putty knife between the console and cover plate, carefully pry the rear ccver plate from the top of the console. See Figure 1.

3. Remove the access hole covers from each side of the console.

4. Remove the six (6) screws that attach the console support bracket to the console.

5. Remove the two (2) bolts that attach the console support bracket to the shoulder belt retractor.

6. Lift the console support bracket up and out of the console.

7. Using tin snips, cut 1" off the tabs from each side of the bracket as shown in Figure 1. Be sure to remove any sharp edges.

8. Install the modified bracket into the console. Squeezing the bracket slightly will allow for easier installation.

9. Install the six (6) console support bracket-to-console retaining screws.

10. Removal of the tabs from each side of the console support bracket exposes a hole and welded nut on each side of the shoulder belt retractor. Install the two (2) new 6 mm bolts (907860616) in these holes. Then, install the two (2) 6 mm bolts previously removed. Torque the bolts to 6-8 lbs.ft. (8-11 N-m).

11. Install the access hole covers.

12. Install the rear cover plate.
