This notice is sent to you in accordance with the requirements of the National Traffic and Motor Vehicle Safety Act.

Ford Motor Company has determined that a defect which relates to motor vehicle safety exists in certain 1991 Probe GL model cars.

Safety Defect Certain welds of a bracket assembly that anchors the front shoulder belt retractors
may not have adequate strength. If a frontal collision were to occur,
this condition could reduce the protection provided to front seat
passengers. The risk of injury to these passengers may be increased.

Important Occupants of these vehicles should not stop wearing their seat belts
because of this condition. Even with under-strength welds, the front seat belt assemblies
will afford substantial protection to front seat occupants in a collision.

Repairs At no cost to you, your dealer will modify
the shoulder belt retractor bracket on your car.

How long will The time needed to repair your car is about
it take? one half hour. However, due to service
scheduling times, your dealer may need your vehicle for one full working day.


Call your dealer Call your dealer without delay. Ask for a
service date and if parts are in stock.

If your dealer does not have the parts in stock, they can be ordered before scheduling your service date. Parts would be expected to arrive within a week.

When you bring your car in, give the dealer this letter.

If you misplace this letter, your dealer will still do the work, free of charge.

Changed address If you have, please fill out enclosed prepaid
or sold the postcard and mail it to us.
