SUBJECT: Safety Recall 91S23 - Certain 1991 Probe GL Model Cars for Front Shoulder Belt Retractor Bracket Modifications


AFFECTED VEHICLES 1991 Probe GL model cars produced between
10/15/90 and 12/20/90.

REASONS FOR RECALL On some of these cars, the spot welds on the center console support bracket assemblies that anchor the shoulder belt retractor may not have adequate strength. If a collision were to occur, such welds could adversely affect the shoulder belt performance. The risk of injury to a front seat occupant in such a situation could be increased.

To correct this condition, the center console support bracket assembly is to be modified and two additional bracket bolts installed on each of the affected cars.
