EGR Valve: Service and Repair

REMOVAL

WARNING: EGR components transport hot exhaust gases. Contact with hot EGR components may cause severe burns. Wear protective gloves or allow the vehicle sufficient time to cool.

1. Remove the EGR vacuum hose.
2. Remove EGR mounting bolts, and remove the EGR valve from the manifold. Discard gasket.

INSTALLATION

1. Install the EGR valve to the manifold, with a new gasket. Torque EGR mounting bolts to 20-30 Nm (14-22 lb-ft).
2. Install the EGR valve vacuum hose. Refer to Powertrain Management/Emission Control Systems/Exhaust Gas Recirculation/Testing and Inspection/Procedures for the appropriate test procedure, and check EGR operation.
