Refer to Fig. 57, when performing this procedure.
1. Disconnect battery ground cable.
2. Remove steering wheel insert, then remove steering wheel attaching nut.
3. Mark steering wheel and steering column shaft for assembly reference and remove wheel with steering wheel puller tool No. T67L-3600-A or equivalent.
4. Remove two screws securing column cover, then remove cover.

5. Remove nine attaching screws from the cluster module, Fig. 58.
6. Carefully pull cluster module outward to gain access to the electrical connectors.
7. Disconnect seven electrical connectors and remove ignition illumination bulb.
8. Remove cluster module, then loosen two cover hinge screws, Fig. 59.
9. Remove six screws from the instrument cluster cover, then remove the cover.
10. Remove lower cluster cover panel, then the four attaching screws from the cluster.
11. Disconnect electrical connectors from the back of the cluster, and remove cluster.
12. On models with automatic transmission, remove floor console as follows:
a. Remove two screws securing selector knob to selector lever.
b. Remove selector trim piece.
c. Remove four screws securing selector bezel, then lift bezel to gain access to the selector illumination bulb and the shift control switch.
d. Disconnect illumination bulb and shift control switch electrical harness, then remove bezel.
e. Remove front ash receptacle and cigar lighter.
f. Remove four front mounting screws, then position front seat to gain access to the console rear access hole covers.

g. Remove access hole covers from each side of the console, Fig. 60 and 61.
h. Remove rear retaining bolts, then position front seats all the way to the rear.
i. Lift console from the rear and disconnect electrical connectors for the mirror and ride control switches.
j. Apply parking brake and remove console.
13. On models with manual transmission, remove floor console as follows:
a. Slide shifter boot down and remove shift knob.
b. Remove trim panel and boot.
c. Remove front ash receptacle and cigar lighter.
d. Remove four front console mounting screws, then position front seats to gain access to console rear access hole covers.
e. Remove four rear retaining bolts, then position front seats all the way to the rear.
f. Lift console from the rear and disconnect electrical connectors for the mirror and ride control switches.
g. Apply parking brake and remove console.
14. Remove hood release handle from cable.
15. Remove right and left side console kick panels.
16. Remove left and right instrument panel dash side covers.
17. Remove bezel cover from heater-A/C control assembly face.
18. Remove four attaching screws from control assembly housing.
19. Remove left and right sound deadening panels from instrument panel.
20. Remove REC/FRESH control cable from REC/FRESH selector door assembly.
21. On 1990-91 models, disconnect blower switch and control assembly illumination electrical connectors.
22. On all models, remove temperature control cable from the temperature blend door assembly at the right side of heater case.
23. Remove function selector cable from function control doors assembly at the let side of heater case.
24. Noting position of cables for assembly reference, remove control assembly and cables as an assembly.
25. Remove two radio retaining screws, disconnect antenna and electrical connectors.
26. Remove radio and/or tape player from the vehicle.
27. Remove trip computer display cover bezel from the instrument panel, if equipped.
28. Remove two attaching screws from trip computer display housing and pull housing straight out of the dash.
29. Disconnect electrical connector from rear of trip computer display.

30. Remove dash panel access cover to gain access to center instrument panel mounting nut, then remove nut, Fig. 62.
31. Remove remaining instrument panel mounting bolts, then lift instrument panel toward rear of vehicle, then disconnect remaining electrical connectors.
32. Remove instrument panel from vehicle.
33. Reverse procedure to install.
