Exhaust Gas Recirculation Solenoid Vacuum Valve

On 2.2L/4-133 non-turbocharged models, the EGR solenoid vacuum valve is a normally closed solenoid that controls vacuum applied to the EGR valve during engine operation. During engine operation when EGR flow is required, the EGR solenoid vacuum valve will allow vacuum to the BVT valve. When EGR flow has to be cut, the ECA signals the solenoid vacuum valve, switching it on, and vacuum is vented through the air filter mounted on the solenoid vacuum valve. This action bleeds the BVT valve vacuum to atmosphere and thereby closing the EGR valve.
