Throttle Position Switch: Description and Operation
The idle switch (IDL) detects when the throttle valve is fully closed and supplies the electronic control assembly with an idle condition input signal. On 2.2L/4-133 models, the idle switch contacts are closed when the throttle plates are closed and opened as soon as the throttle plate begins to open. On models except 2.2L/4-133, the idle switch is integrated with the throttle position sensor and operates in a similar manner.
