Key On Engine Off Test

This test requires a suitable analog volt/ohmmeter meter as shown, Fig. 2.
1. Turn ignition key Off, then reset control unit before performing each test.
2. Perform visual check as previously described.
3. Turn ignition key to On position.
4. Activate self-test by turning voltmeter On.
5. On 1989 models, perform test steps in sequence, see CODE PATTERN CHART. Ensure steering wheel is in proper position and ignition key is Off prior each step test.
6. On 1990-91 models refer to QUICK TESTS.
7. On all models, record all service codes displayed as indicated in CODE PATTERN CHART or QUICK TESTS. Refer to SCHEMATIC DIAGRAMS/ELECTRICAL AND ELECTRONIC DIAGRAMS and PINPOINT TESTS as indicated.
