SUBJECT:
Emissions Recall 92E34 - Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) Valve and Position Sensor Replacement on Certain 1990, 1991 and 1991-Model California 2.2L (Turbo) Engine Equipped Probe GT Cars

AFFECTED VEHICLES

1990, 1991 and 1992-model California Probe GT cars equipped with 2.2L (Turbo) engines and manufactured at the Flat Rock Michigan Assembly Plant.

REASONS FOR RECALL

A signal from the exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) valve position sensor may cause the malfunction indicator light to falsely indicate that an emission control component repair is necessary. The valves maybe working properly and emissions may not be affected; however, there is concern that failure to correct this condition will lead owners to ignore the malfunction indicator lights.

SERVICE ACTION

Cars returned for service will have the exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) valves and sensors replaced at no-charge to owners.
