Boost Solenoid: Description and Operation

On turbocharged models, the boost control solenoid controls boost pressure generated by the turbocharger by regulating the boost signal to the wastegate actuator. During normal engine operation. Boost pressure is applied to the wastegate actuator and boost is regulated by spring pressure in the actuator. When the boost solenoid is energized, the boost signal to the wastegate actuator is vented to atmosphere and turbocharger boost is allowed to reach its maximum, Fig. 2.
