Ignition Timing: Adjustments

This procedure is to be used under normal circumstances.

1. Make sure that the transmission is in PARK or NEUTRAL, A/C and heater in OFF position.
2. Remove vacuum hoses from the distributor vacuum advance connection at the distributor and plug the hoses.
3. Connect an inductive timing light.
4. Connect a tachometer.
5. Start the engine and allow it to warm up to normal operating temperature.
6. Ensure idle speed is set to specifications.
7. Verify that timing advance distributor is advancing beyond the initial setting.
8. Remove test instruments.
9. Unplug and reconnect vacuum hoses.
