TRANSMISSION - A4LD - LOCATION OF VALVE BODY SHUTTLE BALLS - SHOP MANUAL CORRECTION

FORD: 1987-88 MUSTANG,
1987-88 THUNDERBIRD

ISSUE: The number of shuttle balls and their locations inside the transmission valve body as described in the 1987 and 1988 Car Shop Manual, Volume D, Section 17-08 is incorrect. The Mustang A4LD transmission valve body uses a total of six (6) shuttle balls and the Thunderbird A4LD transmission valve body only uses five (5).

ACTION: If service is required, refer to pages 20 through 24 of this TSB article for the correct number and positions of valve body shuttle balls. This service information should be inserted in your 1987 Car Shop Manual, Volume D, Section 17-08-89 and 1988 Car Shop Manual, Volume D, Section 17-08-88 for future reference.
