Article No. 88-11-4

RADIO - NOISE IN GRAPHIC EQUALIZER - VEHICLES BUILT BEFORE 8/23/87

FORD: 1988 MUSTANG

ISSUE: Noise interference in the graphic equalizer amplifier when operating the windshield wipers, horn, power windows or power door locks may be caused by the lack of an internal noise suppressor in each of the components. The noise is most noticeable when the radio is set at low volume.

ACTION: To correct this, install a new design windshield wiper motor and horns which have internal noise suppressors. Also install a new design graphic equalizer amplifier and wire harness to reduce the noise created from the power door locks and power windows.

1. Install the new design windshield wiper motor, (E8ZZ-17508-A). Refer to the 1988 Car Shop Manual, Volume B, Section 35-60-4 for detailed service instructions.

2. Install both the high pitch horn, (E7LY-13832-A) and the low pitch horn, (E7LY-13833-A). Refer to the 1988 Car Shop Manual, Volume B, Section 35-80-2 for detailed service instructions.

3. Install a new graphic equalizer amplifier, (E8ZZ- 18B849-B) and graphic equalizer wire harness, (E8ZZ-18B864-A). Refer to the 1988 Car Shop Manual, Volume B, Section 35-09-2 for detailed service instructions.
