MIL Lamp - Flashes for 60 Seconds

Article No. 86-24-8

LAMP - MALFUNCTION INDICATOR LIGHT (MIL) FLASHES 2.3L OHC (CALIFORNIA ONLY)

FORD 1987 MUSTANG

CALIBRATIONS: 7-06A-R00, 7-05A-R10

The Malfunction Indicator Light (MIL) "Check Engine" may flash for 60 seconds instead of remaining constantly lit when the vehicle is in Failure Mode Effects Management (FMEM). This is caused by the EEC IV processor strategy and does not require corrective action. The flashing MIL should be serviced the same way as the constantly lit MIL. Refer to the Engine/ Emissions Diagnosis Manual, Volume H, Section 16- 25/26.
