Outer Belt Line Weatherstrip - Loose


DOOR - OUTER BELT LINE WEATHERSTRIP - LOOSE Article No.
87-10-1

FORD: 1987 MUSTANG

ISSUE: Door outer belt line weatherstrips may come loose from the door flange due to poor retention qualities of the current weatherstrip design.

ACTION: To correct this, install a 1/8 inch pop rivet to secure the outer belt line weatherstrip. Refer to the following service procedure.

1. Remove exterior belt line moulding attaching screw located at rear of door, Figure 1.

2. Slide exterior belt line moulding rearward to remove it from door.

CAUTION: Door glass MUST be in the full, down position. Make sure location of hole that is going to be drilled is behind the door glass.

3. Drill a .140 diameter hole (use a 9/64 inch drill) through the outer belt line weatherstrip and door flange, Figure 2. The hole location should be two inches from rear and 1/4 inch from bottom edge of weatherstrip.

4. Install one (1) pop rivet (375203-S) to secure outer belt line weatherstrip.

5. Reinstall exterior belt line moulding and attaching screw.
