Recall - Exhaust Catalyst Inspection/Replacement: Overview


To: All Dealers

SUBJECT: Emissions Recall 91E01 - Exhaust System Catalyst Inspection/Replacement on Certain 1987-Model California 2.3L Engine Equipped Mustangs


AFFECTED VEHICLES All 1987-Model California Mustangs equipped with 2.3L engines having calibration
codes 7-05A-R10/11 and 7-06A-R00/10. The cars were manufactured at the Dearborn Assembly Plant
during the 1987-Model year.

REASONS FOR RECALL The substrate material in the catalysts in some of the affected cars may rattle and
break up in normal customer usage. If the substrate material
breaks up, the exhaust emission levels may exceed California standards.

SERVICE ACTION Mustangs returned for service will be inspected,
and if necessary, have the exhaust system
catalyst assembly replaced at no charge.
