- COSMETIC REPAIR PROCEDURES
FORD 1986 TEMPO
Front and rear bumper covers on 1986 Tempo vehicles are not painted but color impregnated with a slight "grained" surface. A new paint procedure has been developed to repair scratches and minor surface damage.
NOTE: This procedure will not work on gouges, holes, tears or severe surface damage.
1. Clean entire cover exterior surface with Ditzler Acryli-Clean Wax and Grease Remover (part number DX-330), 3M General Purpose Adhesive Cleaner and Wax Remover (part number 08984) or equivalent.
2. Scuff entire exterior cover surface with 3M ScotchBrite General Purpose Pad (part number 07447).
3. Wipe scuffed surface with a clean dry cloth and then blow off with clean air.
4. Apply two coats of either Ditzler Polypropylene Primer (part number DPX-800) or 3M Polyolefin Adhesion Promoter (part number 05907) to the entire exterior bumper cover surface. Allow 15 minutes drying time between coats.
5. Apply three wet coats of Ditzler Delstar Acrylic Enamel Color mixed with appropriate amounts of Ditzler Delthane Additive (part number DXR-80) and Ditzler Flexitive Additive (part number DX- 369). Allow 20 minutes drying time between coats. The final color coat will be dust free in approximately 40 minutes and tack free in three hours. This coat can be taped in eight hours. Suggest overnight drying before returning to customer.
