This article is being republished in its entirety to revise Steps 4 and 6 of the service procedure.
ISSUE: A no-start condition may be caused by the engine control wire harness (12A581) rubbing against the ground strap at the engine attaching bolt.
ACTION: To correct this, first inspect the 12A581 wire harness for damage. If the 12A581 wire harness is damaged, repair the wire harness, and install a piece of convolute using the following service procedure.
1. Disconnect battery ground cable.

2. Open convolute where 12A581 wire harness was rubbing on ground strap attaching bolt, Figure 2.
3. Inspect wires for damage and repair as required.
4. Install a piece of convolute (50 mm long, D4AZ- 14A099-A and tape in position with heat resistant tape (E0AZ-19628-A), Figure 2.
5. Remove retaining bolt and ground strap from intake manifold.
NOTE: Make sure ground strap eyelet(s) and bolt are clean before reinstalling.
6. Position 12A581 wire harness retainer (374944-S100) making sure that retainer is centered over added piece of convolute.

7. Install bolt through wire harness retainer, then ground eyelet(s) to intake manifold, Figure 2.
8. Connect battery ground cable.
9. Make sure vehicle starts.
