Subject: Emissions Recall U-7F - Installation of Correct Exhaust Emission Control Information Labels on Certain 1984-Model Thunderbird Vehicles
Vehicles Involved
Certain 1984-model year Thunderbird vehicles manufactured at the Atlanta Assembly Plant from start of 1984-model production (August 29, 1983) through September 7, 1983.
Description of Condition and Correction
Some of the described vehicles above were manufactured with incorrect Exhaust Emission Control Information labels. California regulations require that each vehicle have an Exhaust Emission Control Information window label indicating the applicable exhaust emission standards with the appropriate model year.
Ford is notifying you so that this condition may be corrected. Correction will consist of replacing the incorrect labels with the correct labels.
Notification of Owners
The enclosed list identifies units delivered to your dealership which are involved in this notice. Affected vehicles not yet delivered to the owners must be corrected prior to delivery. No owner notification is planned since the affected vehicles are in-transit or in dealer stock.
Dealership Obligations
Dealers are obligated to perform this service prior to delivery of the vehicles to owners. It is important that you promptly report to your Ford Parts and Service Division District Office any vehicle that is not in the location indicated by our records.
Technical and Administrative Instructions
Repair
1. Remove and discard the incorrect Exhaust Emission Control Information label (Part number E3AE-6D090-BA).
2. Install the correct Exhaust Emission Control Information label (part number E4AE-6D090-CA).
Parts Ordering Information
Other than the Exhaust Emission Control Information label (E4AE-6D090-CA), there are no parts required for this action. Enclosed is a quantity of labels sufficient to correct involved vehicles delivered to your dealership. Please contact your Ford Parts and Service Division District Office if you require additional labels.
Labor
Replace Exhaust Emission

The 0.1 hour administrative allowance must be added before inserting the total labor time in the appropriate box of the Form 1864.

Reporting of Completions
Upon completion of the required service, prepare a Form 1864 and return the second copy of the form completely filled out and signed by authorized dealership personnel. Forms 1864 are enclosed for your use in this matter. Only the Form 1864 will be accepted for reimbursement in this program. It is important that all claims be filed for all completed units so that our records will show completion. Please use the Direct Warranty Entry (DWE) system whenever possible to record your completions. Any problems encountered with this action should be discussed with your Ford Parts and Service Division Service Zone Manager.
