EGR Control Solenoid: Description and Operation
OPERATIONThe Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) solenoid is an ON/OFF type solenoid valve which controls the EGR valve operating negative pressure delivered from port E of the throttle body.
The battery power is supplied through the Multiport Fuel Injection (MFI) relay to the EGR solenoid. When the power transistor in the engine control module is caused to be ON by the engine control module, current flows through the coil and causes the EGR solenoid to be ON to operate the EGR valve.
