Preliminary Inspection
PRELIMINARY INSPECTION1. Road test vehicle, noting any abnormal steering or handling characteristics.
2. Ensure tires are of proper type, are correctly inflated and that tires on each axle are same size.
3. Ensure tires conform with size recommendations for vehicle.
4. Inspect ball joints, suspension arms, bushings and tie rods; repair or replace any component that is damaged or excessively worn.
5. Ensure wheel runout is not excessive, and that wheel bearings are properly adjusted.
6. Jounce vehicle several times to settle suspension.
7. Place vehicle on suitable alignment rack following manufacturer's instructions.
8. Check and correct alignment angles in following sequence: rear toe and camber, caster, front camber and front toe.
9. Correct any angle that is not within specifications. If no adjustment is possible, check for damaged or worn suspension components and/or damaged or distorted chassis members and correct as needed.
