Purge Control System:
1. Disconnect the vacuum hose (red stripe) from the throttle body and connect it to a vacuum gauge.
2. Plug the nipple from which the vacuum hose was removed.
3. Apply a vacuum of 53 kPa (15.7 in Hg) while the engine is running at 3,500 RPM.
^ With the engine cold (40° C [104° F] or less), the vacuum will be maintained.
^ If the engine is hot (80° C [176° F] or higher), the vacuum will be maintained at idle. At 3,500 RPM, the vacuum will leak for approximately 3 minutes after the engine is started. After 3 minutes have elapsed, the vacuum will be maintained momentarily, after which it will leak again.
NOTE: The vacuum will leak continuously if the atmospheric pressure is approximately 77 kPa (22.8 in. Hg.) or less, or if the temperature of the intake air is approximately 50° C (122° F) or higher.
