Test 6 - Power Transistor Testing

Power Transistor Connector:

POWER TRANSISTOR CHECK

1. Insure that the ignition switch is in the OFF position and the power transistor connector is disconnected from the wiring harness.
2. Connect the negative terminal of a 1.5V power supply to terminal 5 of the six pin power transistor connector and the positive terminal of the power supply to terminal 6 of the six pin connector.
3. Check if there is continuity between terminal 5 of the six pin connector and terminal 2 of the two pin connector. There should be continuity.
4. Disconnect the power supply and recheck for continuity. There should be no continuity.
5. If test results do not agree with the above, replace the distributor assembly, since the power transistor is not a replaceable a component. If test results agree with the above, check sensor power and grounds.
