Throttle Body: Testing and Inspection

1. START the engine and bring it to normal operating temperature (cooling fan cycles at least once), then shut OFF engine.
2. Turn OFF all accessories and connect the scan tool to the [1][2]diagnostic connector, then START the engine.
3. Using the scan tool, access the "Minimum Air Flow Idle Speed" screen. The following will occur:
a. The Automatic Idle Speed (AIS) motor will fully close.
b. Idle spark advance will become fixed.
c. Engine idle speed will be displayed on the scan tool.
4. If the idle speed is within the specifications below the minimum airflow is correct. If the idle speed is not within specifications, replace the throttle body.

GEAR SELECTION IDLE RPM

Neutral 625 - 725 RPM
Drive 565 - 665 RPM

4. Turn OFF the engine and remove the scan tool.
