EGR Valve Solenoid

1. Unplug the solenoid electrical connector and disconnect the vacuum lines from the solenoid.
2. Connect a vacuum pump to the solenoid supply port (next to the electrical connection).
3. Connect a vacuum gauge to the outlet port.
4. Apply battery voltage to one terminal of the EGR solenoid and ground the other terminal. If the solenoid DOES NOT click, replace the solenoid.
5. Using the vacuum pump, apply 15 inches of vacuum to the solenoid and check that no vacuum is read on the vacuum gauge (output side).
6. Disconnect the solenoid ground wire. The vacuum readings should equalize between the two ports.
7. If the solenoid does not operate as outlined above, replace the solenoid.
