Speed Control Switch Test
Fig. 72 Servo Harness Connector:
1. Remove speed control switch, refer to Cruise Control/Cruise Control Switch/Service and Repair.
2. Measure resistance at terminals B and C of speed control switch with switches pressed. Resistance should be as follows:
a. With switch in Off position, 0-5 ohms.
b. With switch in On position, 645-715 ohms.
c. With switch Resume/Accel switch pressed, 1900-2100 ohms.
d. With switch Set/Coast switch pressed, 5370-5925 ohms.
3. If resistance is not as specified, replace the speed control switch bar.
4. Disconnect turn signal cancel switch 8-way connector located in the lower steering column.
5. Install a suitable jumper wire between speed control switch terminal C to terminal E (white wire) and between speed control switch terminal B to terminal F (blue wire). With jumpers in place, press speed control On switch. Speed control relay should now be energized and battery voltage should be at servo terminal 2.
6. If battery voltage is present at servo, repair open or replace turn signal cancel cam and switch.
7. If voltage is not present at servo, disconnect engine controller and test for continuity from connector terminal 23 to turn signal cancel cam switch connector terminal E (white wire). Repair any open or short to ground.
8. Check for continuity to ground or an open from turn signal cancel switch harness connector terminal F (blue wire) and ground. Repair any open circuit.
9. Connect negative lead of ohmmeter to ground near engine controller. Place ignition switch in Off position, press speed control switch Off.
10. Measure resistance between ground and engine controller connector terminal 53 then between ground and servo connector terminal 3. Repair any short to ground.
11. Measure resistance between engine controller connector terminal 53 and servo connector terminal 3. If resistance is less than 10 ohms there is a short to ground.
12. Measure resistance between engine controller connector terminal 33 and the servo connector terminal 2. Resistance should be less than 10 ohms. Repair circuit if resistance is not as specified.
